
Nathan T. Orr
MD, FACS, RPVI
Nathan T. Orr, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general and vascular surgeon. He has published multiple peer-reviewed research manuscripts and continues to conduct vascular surgery related research. His expertise includes the management of carotid disease, thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms and dissections, peripheral arterial disease, mesenteric artery disease, dialysis access, and venous disease. His mission is to deliver the highest quality vascular care while helping patients and family members gain an understanding of their condition, along with a clear picture of the various treatment options to make a well-informed decision regarding their surgery and long-term vascular health.
After graduating with a degree in business management from Brigham Young University, Dr. Orr earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He then went to the University of Kentucky for his general surgery residency and vascular surgery fellowship training. This subsequently led to a faculty position in the surgery department at the University of Kentucky
While working as a surgeon at the University of Kentucky and associated Lexington VA hospital, Dr. Orr enjoyed his primary passions of operating on vascular surgery patients and teaching the next generation of surgeons. He was also given the responsibility of medical director of wound care for all hospital and outpatient facilities, along with medical director of the university and veterans affairs vascular ultrasound department. He was also the associate program director for the University of Kentucky vascular fellowship training program and the clerkship director for the vascular surgery medical student rotation. Dr. Orr was ultimately promoted to an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Kentucky.
Dr. Orr joined the Texas Vascular Associates, PA in 2020 when he moved from Kentucky to return to his home state of Texas to be closer to family. As a fellow in the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Orr is a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, the Vascular and Endovascular Surgical Society, the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery, and the Texas Society for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. He has held national positions of leadership within these societies and has been named one of the Best Doctors in the area by Living Magazine.
