Ongoing Research and Clinical Interests

  • Dr Grimsley is pioneering the use of a breakthrough technology called TransCarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR) to treat patients with carotid artery disease who are at risk for open surgery. TCAR was designed to help minimize that risk by keeping potential stroke causing fragments away from the brain. The entire procedure is performed in less than half the time of open surgery, carotid endarterectomy, – limiting the stress on the heart and significantly cutting the risk of the patient having a stroke or heart attack during the procedure. He has performed over 100 TCAR procedures and has created a new standard of care in North Texas.
  •  Studying subclavian vein stenosis and results of transluminal angioplasty and stenting.
  • Dr. Grimsley has published and presented a number of scientific articles as it relates to Vascular/ Endovascular interventions. He has also been involved in a number of research projects/ trials relating to his specialty.
  • He is presently most interested in the diverse application of Endovascular techniques as they apply to carotid, aneursymal, upper/ lower extremity arterial occlusive disease, as well as venous ablation therapy for symptomatic varicose veins.
